Motion capture is the second module of the DFX course at the NFTS and consists in developing a little story using the MoCap technique and the equipment available at Centroid (Pinewood Studios). The resulting sequence introduces a CG character (Douggy) who’s a toy left on a shelf to dance alone.
The module represents a fantastic opportunity to work in team and to start specializing in a specific craft of visual effects. The project, from writing the story to grading, took the best part of an intensive 6 weeks of teamwork resulting in the following video.
